TV Drama Mise En Scene

A still photo from the Horror TV Drama; The Vampire Diaries

Setting
The setting makes the program realistic because the vampire is in a normal fairground. Even though the set is blurred out, it is clear the vampire is in a human surrounding making the situation more believable.

Costume
The vampire is wearing a casual, modern outfit so he fits into the real world adding to the realism of the program. A leather jacket and black t-shirt gives the impression that he is a dark character and the scene has got a negative side to it but it still fits into a believable scenario.

Lighting
The fairground glow sets up the lighting for this still photo even though they are blurred. The fairground colours reflect onto the vampires face as his skin has a red tinge which adds to the realistic aspect of the program as it is evident the vampire is really at the real life fair.

Makeup
The makeup makes the program realistic because of the professional artists hired, as it is an american program, and the good quality makeup used which makes the fake blood look real. The fake blood has been put on in such a way that the blood looks like it has dribbled and smeared onto the vampires chin and around his mouth just like how blood does in real life.
